One of the most common causes of failures in magnetic reed switch flow switches and level switches is welded shut contacts caused by switching reactive electrical loads such as electromechanical relays, solenoid valves, motor starters, motors, pumps, and incandescent loads. Even if the load does not exceed the reed switches rating, reactive loads cause arcing across the reed switch contacts and cause reed switch contacts to weld/stick shut. Contact protection must be added to your circuit to ensure reliability.

This straight forward method of converting motion into an electrical signal is so uncomplicated that many years of reliable service can be expected. If you are looking for a simple, compact , affordable way to protect reed switch devices or other pilot load switching devices from large loads this is it. NistorPacs can switch solenoid valves, small pumps, motor starters, alarms or any other AC loads up to 5 amps. If you already have integrated circuitry and need to add a high level or low level cut off or alarm, the NistorPac is an excellent solution.

The NistorPac has no shared terminals , a built in heat sink, and built in hold downs making it a quick, simple, convenient, low cost control solution. Teccor’s alternistor is specifically designed for applications that switch highly inductive loads. A special chip offers the same performance as two thyristors(SCRs) wired inverse parallel (back-to-back), providing better turn-off behavior than a standard triac. This new chip construction provides two electrically separate SCR structures, providing enhanced dv/dt characteristics while retaining the advantages of a single-chip device. The NistorPac works in 24 – 240 Volts AC.
