One of the most common causes of failures in magnetic reed switch flow switches and level switches is welded shut contacts caused by switching reactive electrical loads such as electromechanical relays, solenoid valves, motor starters, motors, pumps, and incandescent loads. Even if the load does not exceed the reed switches rating, reactive loads cause arcing across the reed switch contacts and cause reed switch contacts to weld/stick shut. Contact protection must be added to your circuit to ensure reliability.

15-650 Liquid Level Switch is the “Quintessential” side mounted level switch. 15-650 level switches are made up of two cleverly sculptured, injection molded sections. A housing section, containing a sealed in glass magnetic switch and a float section containing a permanent magnet. Level switch sections are hinged together by an integral clevis mechanism. The level switch float moves in response to changes in liquid level, thereby transporting the magnet into proximity with the switch. it is a simple concept. Move the float close to the body and the level switch “clicks” on. Move the level switch float away and the switch “clicks” off. 15-650s mount from the outside in using built in 1/2″ NPT male threads or mount in side out using the built in 1/4 NPT male thread and included jam nut and o ring. 50-NP-AC5 Solid State NistorPac is a packaged Teccor alternistor that boosts switching capability of reed switch devices to 5 amps AC. If you are looking for a simple, compact, affordable way to protect reed switch devices or other pilot load switching devices from large loads this is it. NistorPacs can switch solenoid valves, small pumps, motor starters, alarms or any other AC loads up to 5 amps. If you already have integrated circuitry and need to add a high level or low level cut off or alarm, the NistorPac is an excellent solution.

The NistorPac has no shared terminals, a built-in heat sink, and built in hold downs making it a quick, simple, convenient, low cost control solution. Teccor’s alternistor is specifically designed for applications that switch highly inductive loads. A special chip offers the same performance as two thyristors (SCRs) wired inverse parallel (back-to-back), providing better turn-off behavior than a standard triac. This new chip construction provides two electrically separate SCR structures, providing enhanced dv/dt characteristics while retaining the advantages of a single-chip device. The NistorPac works in 24 – 240 Volts AC.
