Start, stop and dry-run protection — with solid state relays that let a reed switch drive a pump directly instead of through a separate control enclosure.
A float switch on its own cannot switch a pump — a reed contact is a signal-level device. The usual answer is a separate relay panel, which is another enclosure, another wiring run and another thing to specify. Amplifying the contact at the switch removes all three.
A machine tool builder needs coolant level detection in their CNC mill's coolant sump. The sump sits under the machine bed with no vertical access — a side-mount switch installs through the sump wall. The 10-786-R with relay housing lets the customer mount a solid state relay that directly controls the coolant pump, shutting it off before the sump runs dry. The connector terminal allows quick disconnect during machine service without cutting wires.
A commercial warewash OEM needs level detection in their bulk soap reservoir. The 2″ NPT opening is standard on their molded polypropylene tank. Polypropylene construction is compatible with soap solutions and mild alkaline cleaners. The 10-106 set's sealed adapter prevents soap residue from wicking up through the threaded connection. The relay housing allows field-installation of a solid state relay to control the soap metering pump.
